MTIFF – Multi-page Tagged Image
File Format
Same as TIFF below but a Multi-page format
OCR – Optical Character Recognition
Used to automatically recognise printed characters
OMR – Optical Mark Recognition
Also called mark sense, this technology can read ticks in a

PDF – Portable Document Format
Originally an Adobe proprietary format,
PDF is now an open srtandard used to represent documents in a manner independent

Normally refers to the speed of a device like a scanner or

WIA; sometimes also called Windows Imaging Architecture)

systems that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging
hardware such as scanners, digital
